Stearns Lake Trailhead at Carolyn Holmberg Preserve Closed July 22 – Oct. 15

Parking lot will be closed for improvements. Trails will be open but access will be limited.

Left Hand Outdoor Challenge

The Left Hand Outdoor Challenge is accepting applications for youth participants and adult mentors. This free nine-month program offers teens ages 14 to 18 various challenging experiences to foster outdoor adventure, education, stewardship, career exploration, and leadership.

New Wapiti Trail Route Now Open

A new route for a section of the Wapiti Trail at Heil Valley Ranch opened on June 18. The new route was built to protect nesting eagles. The former detour on the access road remains open to pedestrians and equestrians.

Summer Issue of Images

The summer issue of Images magazine is now available. Articles include: Where to Go to Roll When You Stoll, Highlighting the Complex Relationships of Plants and Pollinators, The Enduring Power of Our Volunteer Naturalists, and Nature Detectives: How to Become Good Stewards or Guardians of Nature.

On May 23, the Board of County Commissioners approved the Integrated Weed Management Plan with changes.
