Boulder County Public Health is closely monitoring the developments of the novel coronavirus that was first identified in Wuhan, China.

Communicable Disease Control Program

Our staff works with medical providers, hospitals, and laboratories to:

  • Detect and report cases of significant infectious disease
  • Investigate the circumstances of each case
  • Provide pertinent information to families and communities
  • Recommend and implement measures to control the spread of disease
  • Provide infection-control training to community agencies and organizations

Emergency Management Program

The Emergency Management Program protects Boulder County residents from adverse consequences of both unintentional (flood, wildfire) and intentional (bioterrorism) events.

HIV/STI Outreach Program

Staff provide confidential or anonymous testing, counseling, and education to individuals in both outreach and clinic based settings. Staff help clients to develop their own risk reduction program for their sexual health. The HIV/STI program also runs the The Works Program, a syringe access program for people who inject drugs.

Immunizations (Vaccines)

The Immunization Program works to minimize vaccine-preventable disease in Boulder County by informing the public about the importance of childhood and adult immunizations, providing technical immunization support for private physicians and other groups, and conducting weekly immunization clinics.

Tuberculosis

The staff in the TB program work with Denver Metro TB Clinic to provide diagnosis and treatment for suspect and active tuberculosis patients and their contacts. The program serves as an information resource for health care providers and the general community.
