Parents as Teachers (PAT) is Family Resiliency Education Program focused on providing Boulder County families with the tools they need to not just to survive, but to thrive.
Parenting Advisors work with parents to:

  • Increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and prepare children for school
  • Identify developmental delays/health issues
  • Support positive parenting techniques with evidence-based information and skill building
  • Connect to helpful community resources

Arpita Kishen

For the last 25 years, Arpita has worked with young children in variety of capacities. She has been with the Parents as Teachers program since 2014. Arpita is a dynamic educator, skilled family and child advocate, dedicated yoga and mindfulness practitioner, and most importantly, a devoted mother. Her work with children as a teacher, parent educator, family advocate, and parent has helped her to attune to the unique and sensitive needs of children.

Claudia Gordilla Villa

Elise Silva

Rocio Nuñez Bonilla

Parents as Teachers (PAT) Home Visitation Program

Participants Receive:

  • A home visitation program delivering the evidence-based PAT curriculum.
  • Frequent, regularly scheduled home visits with a personal parenting advisor.
  • Individualized lesson plans, activities, and information tailored to meet the needs of each child and parent.
  • Periodic child development screenings and school readiness assessments.
  • Evidence-based information on child development and positive discipline techniques.
  • Assistance mediating peer and sibling relationships.
  • Support with power struggles and other difficult dynamics.
  • Connection to a personal parenting advisor after graduation.

To qualify for PAT home visits, your family must answer YES to at least one of these questions:

  • Do you receive SNAP, free/reduced lunch, WIC, or Medicaid?
  • Is your housing in any way provided or subsidized by any Boulder County Program?
  • Do you have more than one child under five years old?
  • Did you stop attending school before graduation AND have also not received a GED?
  • Is either parent under 21 years old?
  • Does either parent speak only a language OTHER than English OR did either parent immigrate to this country within the last five years?
  • Were any of your children born premature, very low birthweight, with a disability, or with a health condition?
  • Does either parent have any mental or physical health disabilities (diagnosed or suspected)?
  • Is there a history of abuse of any kind?
  • Do you have any serious concerns about your child’s behavior or development?

AND must not be currently enrolled in Community Infant Program, Genesis, Nurse Family Partnership, and Early Head Start.

We will be happy to enroll your family after graduation from previous home visitation program.
