When you come to our office, you will most likely need to show a secure and verifiable ID to complete your transaction. Identification must be provided by the owner of record or a representative/agent with power of attorney. The representative must have secure and verifiable identification to complete the transaction. Commercially owned or lien holder transactions require a letter of authorization.
Transactions that require a secure and verifiable ID include:
- Registering a newly purchased vehicle
- Titling a newly purchased vehicle
- Changing the name on a title
- Removing or adding a lien on a title
- Obtaining a temporary permit
- Obtaining a disability parking placard or plate
- New residents of Colorado registering with an out-of-state title or registration
- Buying out a lease
- Out-of-state title exchanged to a Colorado title
- Replacement title or registration
If the name listed on your ID differs from the name on the paperwork (example: first, middle, and last name vs. first and last name only), you will also need to complete a Supplemental Secureand Verifiable Identification form.
