Boulder County Motor Vehicle offices are open Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Closed Fridays. Appointments are required for in-person services. Registration renewals need to be completed online, by mail or drop box, or at a self-service kiosk and are not an in-person service.

Renew Registration by Mail

To renew your vehicle registration by mail, please send the following to Motor Vehicle Division, 1750 33rd Street, Suite 100, Boulder, CO 80301:

  • Postcard renewal notice
  • Proof of insurance if it is noted on your postcard renewal notice
    • All motor vehicle types must have insurance to be driven on Colorado highways
  • Your new physical and mailing addresses if they have changed
  • Proof of emissions if it is noted on your postcard renewal notice
  • Payment by check, payable to Boulder County Clerk, for the “Total Due” amount on your postcard
    • Your postcard will list two amounts: one that includes a State Parks pass and one that excludes a State Parks pass (the difference is $29, the cost of the pass). If you would like a pass, pay the amount that includes the pass. Otherwise, pay the lower amount. Learn more about this pass.

Important Note: Renewals must be received by the last day of the grace period (one month after the expiration month).
