Boulder County’s Building Safety and Inspections division administers building codes, permitting, and inspection services for unincorporated Boulder County. The division reviews construction plans, issues building and trade permits, and conducts inspections to ensure that structures are designed and built to meet adopted safety, sustainability, and resiliency standards. These efforts help ensure that buildings in the county are constructed and maintained in ways that protect public safety and support community goals. The Building Safety and Inspections Division is part of Boulder County’s Community Planning & Permitting Department (CP&P).

Planning and Zoning
The Boulder County Community Planning & Permitting Planning Division includes the Development Review team (Site Plan Review, Current Planning, and Zoning Review) and Long Range Team (Long Range, Special Projects, and Public Information), as well as support staff.
The Planning Division’s primary responsibilities are maintaining the Boulder County Comprehensive Plan and Boulder County Land Use Code, reviewing development proposals for consistency with the Comprehensive Plan and conformance with the Land Use Code, conducting site visits and inspections, answering day-to-day planning and zoning questions from the public, and Historic Preservation.
