Commissioners Condemn Antisemitism
The Boulder County Commissioners welcome the decision by Acting U.S. Attorney J. Bishop Grewell to bring federal hate crimes charges against the suspect in the heinous antisemitic attack on 12 members of the Boulder community during a peaceful gathering in front of the Boulder County Courthouse on Sunday, June 1.
We are grateful to Boulder District Attorney Michael Dougherty for working quickly and thoroughly to bring forward state charges, including attempted murder, which reflect the severity of the crimes.
The initial investigation reveals that the suspect targeted members of the Jewish community and that his actions were motivated by hate and antisemitism. It also reveals that the suspect intended further violence and harm, and that the heroic actions of first responders and community members saved lives.
We stand united with the Boulder District Attorney against hate and terror, and in denouncing antisemitism and this hateful act.
