Boulder County hosts Junior and Senior Team Fishing Derby Saturday, October 12.

Wally Toevs Pond at Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County will host the Junior and Senior Team Fishing Derby on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Wally Toevs Pond at Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat in Boulder.

At this derby, participants participate in pairs consisting of one senior 64 or older and one junior 15 or younger, and fish together as a team. Prizes are awarded for the team that catches the heaviest trout, has the largest age difference, and are first to catch the limit.

The pond is stocked with rainbow trout – artificial and live bait are permitted.

A wheelchair accessible pier is available.

  • When: Saturday October 12, 9:00 a.m.-noon (derby takes place rain or shine).
  • Where: Wally Toevs Pond at Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat, 3893 N. 75th St., between Jay Road and Valmont in Boulder.
  • Cost: Event is free, but seniors 65 and older must have a valid Colorado fishing license.
