The administrative board has current vacancies for interested participants

Boulder, Colo. - Boulder County Community Action Programs (CAP), a division of Boulder County Community Services, is currently seeking participants to serve on the CAP Administrative Board. In collaboration with the Board of County Commissioners, this board seeks to empower low-income and disenfranchised communities through community organizing and direct service initiatives. CAP programs focus on cultural diversity and addressing issues affecting youth, families, and people of color.

The CAP Board helps staff members develop and implement programs that serve Boulder County’s low-income residents, ensure full participation of the low-income sector in program planning and implementation, and secure broad community involvement in our programs. Participants who serve on the board volunteer their time to make a difference and play a crucial role in creating opportunities for self-determination in Boulder County. Board members also help shape programs that support youth, families, and communities of color. The CAP board ensures that the board reflects the ethnicity and geographic makeup of our participants.

There are several current board vacancies CAP is looking to fill. These positions include the following representatives.

• Five Low-Income Sector Representatives: At least one-third of our members are chosen to represent low-income communities.
• Two Public Officials: One-third of our members are public officials or their representatives.
• Four Private Sector Representatives: The remainder of the board consists of members from business, industry, labor, religion, education, and other major community groups.

The requirements for serving on the CAP board include residency requirements and commitment to regularly attending monthly meetings and actively participating in discussions and decision-making. Board members serve a three-year term with the possibility of reappointment for up to four consecutive terms.
