Please read the following items before making an appointment:
- Appointments are not available for registration renewals. Vehicle renewals can be completed online, at a MV Express Kiosk, or by mail or drop box. See our Renewals page for more information about each option. (Remember you have a one-month grace period, unless driving out of state).
- Do NOT make an appointment if you need a driver-related service (e.g., driver’s license (including Real IDs), temporary driving permit, driving history, ID card, etc.). Driver’s Licenses/Permits are not issued by this office. Visit the Department of Revenue for driver-related service appointments.
- Appointments are currently available for services that cannot be completed online or by mail (see box above). We are mainly taking appointments for:
- New titles, out-of-state titles, title concerns
- Private party sales and temporary permits from private party sales
- First-time registrations that could not be completed online or by mail
- Emergencies such as vehicle impounded or driving without plates
- Or for transactions you have attempted online, but cannot complete and/or cannot complete in a timely fashion (due to travel, emergency, etc.)
- If completing a first-time vehicle registration, you will have the option of purchasing a $29 Keep Colorado Wild Pass (for use at State Parks) at the time of registration.
- Appointments are available Monday-Thursday at all three offices – Boulder, Lafayette, or Longmont – from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Please make sure to review any requirements needed for the service you are seeking prior to your appointment time. All services are linked from the Motor Vehicle website.
If staffing levels allow, appointments may become available the same day or next day. If you cannot find an appointment that works best for you, check back again soon.
