Walker Ranch Homestead, Altona Schoolhouse and Mining Museum Volunteer Opportunities with Boulder County Parks & Open Space
Make a difference by becoming an ongoing volunteer!
Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County Parks & Open Space is looking for volunteers for the following: Walker Ranch Homestead, Altona Schoolhouse, and Mining Museum Guides.
Walker Ranch Homestead
Volunteers will learn fun and easy living-history demonstrations to share at special events and weekday school field trips at the Walker Ranch Homestead, an 1880s-era ranch in foothills west of Boulder. The application deadline is Tuesday, April 1. Trainings will take place in late April and early May. Learn more and apply to be a Living History Demonstrator.
Altona Schoolhouse
Volunteers inspire curiosity in students by leading fun and educational programs at this historic school. Volunteers will lead one-room school experiences, share history and artifacts with visitors, set up and clean activity areas, and research and lead period-appropriate crafts, games, and songs. The application deadline is Tuesday, April 1. Training begins in mid-April. Learn more and apply to be an Alonta School Volunteer.
Mining Museum Guides
Volunteers welcome visitors to the museums, teach them about the mining history of Boulder County, and answer questions about the exhibits and the local area. Volunteers also lead educational programs for organized groups such as schools, senior centers, and interest groups. The application deadline is Tuesday, April 1. Training begins Sunday, May 4, with additional trainings for each museum site to take place later in May. Learn more and apply to be a Mining Museum Guide.
