Unoccupied structure fire in Superior, Colorado

Single family home fire under investigation

Boulder County, Colo. - On September 4, 2020, at about 1:48 a.m., a sheriff's deputy observed smoke near 3rd Avenue/Douglas Street in Superior, Colorado. The deputy found an unoccupied house fully engulfed in flames in the 300 block of 3rd Street.

Firefighters with the Rocky Mountain Fire Protection District, Lafayette Fire Department and the Louisville Fire Department were called to scene and quickly extinguished the flames.

On scene investigation confirmed the home owners were not home at the time of the fire. Investigators with the Multi Agency Fire Investigation Team (MAFIT) were called to the scene. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by members of MAFIT and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.

There were no injuries reported during this incident. The home sustained extensive fire damage and is a total loss.
