Two Wildland Fires Extinguished

Boulder County, Colo. - Sheriff's Deputies responded to two wildland fires today during high wind conditions.

Case Number 20-5566 was in the 2700 block of Magnolia Drive in which a 45 x 12 foot area was burned, damaging one tree. This was extinguished by Sugarloaf Fire Department. The cause of this fire is unknown.

Case Number 20-5567 was in the 1000 block of Sunshine Canyon where a resident was trying to dispose of some ashes from a fireplace that apparently were not fully extinguished. This burned approximately a 20 x 20 foot area of pine needles and was quickly controlled and extinguished by Boulder Rural Fire. This fire was within 30-40 feet of the resident's house.

Quick responses by Sugarloaf Fire Department and Boulder Rural Fire Department were crucial in preventing a more dangerous event. No injuries were reported and no other property was damaged.
