Technical rescue of two parties near the 27000 block of South St. Vrain Dr near Lyons Colorado

Technical rescue of two parties that found themselves on the wrong side of the South Saint Vrain river near Lyons Colorado

Boulder County, Colo. - On June 23, 2019 at approximately 8:26 pm, the Boulder County Communications Center received two seperate 911 calls from witnesses who were flagged down by two male hikers who had become stranded on the south side of the South Saint Vrain river near the 27000 block of South Saint Vrain Dr. The hikers signaled for help using a flash light and and long stick.

Rescue personnel from the Lyons Fire Department, Boulder Emergency Services, and deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. A technical rescue using a high line and special raft designed for swift water rescue were utilized due to the depth and swift current of the water.

Both men were safely brought back across the river and no injuries were reported.
