Suspicious bags found outside Costco in Superior

Boulder County Regional Bomb Squad found bags were empty

Boulder County, Colo. -On October 14, 2022 at approximately 8:59 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a call of two suspicious bags outside the Costco Wholesale, located at 600 Marshall Dr, Superior, CO.

An on-duty K9 team that is certified explosive detection responded to the scene. K9 Sapper did not alert on either bag, but due to the nature and odd location of the bags the Boulder County Regional Bomb Squad (Bomb Squad) was requested to the scene. Three members from the Bomb Squad responded to the scene and utilized specialized explosive detection tools including robots and an x-ray. The bags were deemed safe and subsequently opened by members of the bomb squad and found to be empty.

Thank you to all the departments and units who responded to the scene: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder Police Department, Boulder County Regional Bomb Squad, and Mountain View Fire Rescue.

This case is documented under Boulder County Sheriff’s Office case: #22-05207.
