Structure Fire

20-627

Boulder County, Colo. - On February 3, 2020 at approximately 8:46 PM, a resident in the 11700 block of Quail Road called Boulder County Communications Center to report that a pole barn was on fire. Boulder County Sheriff's Office deputies responded, along with fire personnel from the Longmont Fire Department. The Longmont Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire, although the approximately 20 by 40 foot barn was deemed a total loss. The estimated value of the structure was $10,000. Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire had started after a controlled burn at the property was believed to have been completely extinguished, however there was a smoldering hay bale near the barn that was unknown to the homeowner. The barn only contained fence posts and no other property, animals, or persons were damaged or injured. The fire is being investigated by the Mountain View Fire Department.
