Structure Fire

Stove pipe from wood burning stove probable cause of fire in single family home.

Boulder County, Colo. - On January 5, 2019 at approximately 9:15 p.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a 9-1-1 telephone call about a structure fire in the 19000 block of North Saint Vrain Road west of Lyons.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered smoke and flames visible inside the single family home. The fire appears to have originated in the area of attic where the stove pipe passes through the ceiling for the wood burning stove.

One resident and a pet were able to get out of the residence on their own, before first responders arrived on scene, and do not have any injuries. It does not appear that the structure was occupied by any other person or animal.

Responding agencies included the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Lyons Fire Department, Hygiene Fire Department, investigators from Multi-Agency Fire Investigation Team (MAFIT), and AMR ambulance.

The cause of the fire is under investigation; however, at this time it is believed to have been caused by the stove pipe. This incident is documented in Boulder County Sheriff's Office case report number 19-118.
