Small grass fire in the 30,000 block of Boulder Canyon Drive

Passers-by extinguish grass fire prior to first responder's arrival

Boulder County, Colo. - On July 23, 2020, at about 9:40 p.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received reports of a small grass fire in the 30,000 block of Boulder Canyon Drive, Boulder County, Colorado. Unidentified passers-by stopped and extinguished the flames prior to emergency personnel arriving.

Fire personnel arrived and doused the 3 ft. area where the flames had burned the grass and a small tree to ensure the fire was completely out.

Members with the Nederland Fire Department and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office responded. There were no buildings threatened by the small fire and no injuries were reported. It is believed the fire may have been caused by a discarded cigarette.
