Red Flag Warning Highlights Heightened Wildfire Risk in Boulder County

Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are in place for unincorporated plains areas of Boulder County

Boulder County, Colo. – With a Red Flag Warning issued for Boulder County today, fire officials and Wildfire Partners are urging residents to take wildfire risk seriously and avoid activities that could spark a fire.

Red Flag Warnings are issued when weather conditions such as strong winds, low humidity, and dry fuels combine to create extreme fire danger. Under these conditions, fires can start easily and spread rapidly.

Residents are Encouraged To:

  • Avoid outdoor burning and activities that create sparks.
  • Secure loose items that could blow and damage power lines.
  • Learn how to reduce wildfire risk around their home by visiting the Wildfire Partners website.

Additionally, Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are in place for unincorporated plains areas of Boulder County.

“Days like today are a reminder that wildfire is not just a summer issue, but can happen any time of year,” said Katie Palubicki, Outreach Program Coordinator with Wildfire Partners. “The most effective thing homeowners can do is reduce the risk around their homes before a fire starts.”
