Parks & Open Space 2025 Conservation Awards Ceremony Tuesday, Sept. 23

2025 award winners announced!

Boulder County, Colo. - The Boulder County Commissioners and Parks & Open Space staff will present their annual Conservation Awards at the Ron Stewart Parks & Open Space building in Longmont on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 3-4 p.m.

The Conservation Awards honor individuals or groups for outstanding contributions made to the preservation and protection of land-based environmental resources, promotion or preservation of cultural practices or cultural history, and community connections to open space.

  • What: 2025 Parks & Open Space Conservation Awards
  • When: Tuesday, Sept. 23, 3-4 p.m.
  • Where: Ron Stewart Parks & Open Space headquarters building, 5201 St. Vrain Rd., Longmont (map).

The commissioners will present the following awards:

  • Land Conservation Award

    • Linda Holubar Sanabria for commitment to conservation by preserving the Spruce Gulch property, adding to thousands of acres of contiguous protected land in this area of the Rocky Mountain Foothills.
  • Environmental Stewardship Award

    • Dave Sutherland for commitment to environmental stewardship and protecting and preserving the natural world through decades of outstanding work as an environmental educator and naturalist in Boulder County.
  • Community Connections Awards

    • Andrea Yoloteotl Nawage for work through Harvest of All First Nations in providing a space for Indigenous people to connect back to the land.
  • Cultural & Historic Preservation Award

    • Stephanie Wendorf for contributions as a devoted partner of the Agricultural Heritage Center, playing a vital role in preserving and sharing the county’s agricultural legacy.
  • Outstanding Volunteer Awards

    • Roberta Johnston for years of service as a Wildlife Master Volunteer, contributing significantly to the success of Boulder County’s Wildlife Master Program.
    • Kumiko “Amy” Iwata for work as a volunteer on native seed collections and weed eradication efforts, including as a founding member of the Weed Warriors program.
