Missing party in the area of the Betasso Loop

Boulder County, Colo. - On May 14, 2019 at approximately 9:05 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Four Mile Fire Protection District, Sugarloaf Fire Protection District, Boulder County Open Space, and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group were dispatched to the Betasso Loop Trail which is located at approximately 300 block of Betasso Rd. for an over due hiker.

At approximately 7 p.m., Mr. Alberto Iglesias, a 74 year old male from Argentina left the Betasso Trailhead to walk to the overlook bench while is daughter and son in-law ran the Betasso Loop Trail. The daughter and son in-law completed the loop and were not able to locate Mr. Iglesias at the trailhead. They decided to run the loop again in hopes of locating Mr. Iglesias, but were unsuccessful. At approximately 9:00 P.M. the couple called 911 and reported Mr. Iglesias lost in the area.

Rescuers successfully located Mr. Iglesias at 9:41 p.m. just off of Fourmile Canyon Drive in the vicinity of the Fourmile Link Trailhead. Mr. Iglesias was attempting to flag down a motorist to assist him back to the trailhead. Rescuers drove Mr. Iglesias back to the Betasso Trailhead where he was re-united with his daughter and son in-law.
