Man injured after car crash/vehicle fire in the 47000 block of Peak to Peak Hwy

Crash appears intentional after investigation

Boulder County, Colo. - On September 28, 2019 at approximately 5:15 p.m. Boulder County Communications Center received a call of a single vehicle accident involving a Porsche that was on fire in the 47500 Block of Colo. 72 in unincorporated Boulder County.

Prior to emergency responders arriving, several citizens stopped and pulled a single occupant, 57 year old male, out of the car just before it caught on fire. During the investigation it was estimated the male was driving south on Colo 72 at approximately 140 mile per hour before leaving the roadway and traveling almost 400 feet through a large tree, fence, and up a hill. The male was flown to a local area hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. It was later learned the male intentionally drove his car off the road in a suicide attempt.

Agencies responding to this incident included: Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Colorado State Patrol, Indian Peaks Fire District, North Colorado Med Evac, and American Medical Response.
