Injured hiker rescued at Mount Sanitas

Boulder County, Colo. - On Friday, August 14, 2020 at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center was notified of an injured hiker at Mount Sanitas.

A forty-seven-year-old female from Superior, CO fell on a sharp rock and sustained a leg injury while hiking the Mount Sanitas Trail. Boulder Mountain Fire Department provided initial medical care. Rocky Mountain Rescue Group provided a litter evacuation 1,200 feet to the Sanitas Valley Trail. American Medical Response provided further medical care and transported the female to an area hospital. The rescue lasted approximately two hours and required 22 rescuers.

Agencies assisting with this rescue included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response, Boulder Mountain Fire Department, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks.
