Hiker injures ankle on Mallory Cave Trail

Boulder, Colo. - At approximately 12:16 p.m. today, the sheriff’s office was notified of a party who had fallen on the Mallory Cave Trail west of Boulder. The hiker, a 56-year-old female from Aurora, was hiking with her friend when she slid on gravel which caused her to fall.

Members of the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and rangers from Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks located the hiker with assistance from her friend, performed first aid, and carried the injured hiker to the ambulance where she was transported for further medical treatment by American Medical Response. The rescue took approximately one hour and twenty minutes.
