Hiker in cardiac arrest on the Anne U. White Trail

Boulder County, Colo. - On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at approximately 9:45 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a report of a hiker experiencing an allergic reaction on the Anne U. White Trail, in unincorporated Boulder County.

The hiker was with an experienced hiking group when she was stung by something and was having. A female in the hiking group ran down trail, obtained phone service, and called for help.Text-to-911 was also utilized to get information relayed to dispatch where there was no cell phone service.

Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District arrived on scene and was notified by other hikers that CPR was in progress. A MedEvac helicopter was placed on standby while American Medical Response, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, and Boulder Mountain rescue units entered the field.

The female hiker regained a pulse and was carried in a litter to the trailhead, where she was transported to a local hospital for further care.

Agencies assisting with the rescue included: American Medical Response, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder County Parks and Open Space, Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District, MedEvac, and Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.

The associated Boulder County Sheriff’s Office case number was 23-4056.
