Hiker from Greeley evacuated from Long Lake

Boulder County, Colo. - On Monday, July 13, 2020, at approximately 11:49 a.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a hiker feeling ill and being short of breath.

The 60-year-old hiker was looking at wildflowers with her husband and their friends in the area of the west end of Long Lake, in the Brainard Lake Recreational Area, when she became ill. Rescuers were able to locate the patient and carried her out to the trailhead. American Medical Response consulted with the hiker and it was decided that she did not need to be transported via ambulance. The rescue took approximately 45 minutes.

Agencies assisting with this rescue effort included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Indian Peaks Fire Protection District, American Medical Response, and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
