Help improve trail and trailhead safety for hikers, equestrians, skiers, mountain bikers, and outdoor enthusiasts in Boulder County!

Boulder County is recruiting for an inaugural nine-member Emergency Services Grant Program Advisory Committee.

Deadline to apply: Sunday, August 13 by 11:59 p.m.

Boulder County, Colo. -- Apply for a position* on the new Emergency Services Grant Program Advisory Committee to help improve search and rescue and emergency response, on rural and mountain trails in Boulder County.

The committee will give their input to the Boulder County Commissioners on how to distribute the grant portion of the Emergency Services Sales and Use Tax (expected to be around $3 million in 2023). The goal of the new sales and use tax, which passed in 2022 as "County Issue 1B," is to help improve trail and trailhead safety for rural (plains) and mountainous trails in Boulder County.

In addition to recruiting members with hands-on emergency services and rescue response, we are seeking the perspective of trail users, members of the accessibility community, and outdoor recreation enthusiasts. We are striving for a diverse and inclusive committee that welcomes and encourages all community points of view!

The initial committee will be formed in August and make recommendations on the first set of grants by the end of December 2023. A meeting schedule will be determined once the committee is appointed. Most meetings will be held virtually via Zoom. It is anticipated that the committee will meet 2-3 times a month from September until the end of the year. A total commitment of six to eight hours a month is anticipated for the first round of expedited grant awards. A less condensed schedule will be planned for subsequent years.

Go to the Emergency Services Grant Program Advisory Committee webpage at https://boco.org/EmergencyServicesGrants for more information and details on how to apply.

Deadline to apply: Sunday, August 13 by 11:59 p.m.
