Three firefighters sustained minor injuries

Boulder County, Colo. - On Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at approximately 3:15 p.m. the Boulder County Communications Center received a report of a grass fire on the Mountain View Egg Farm Open Space property located near 12648 Baseline Road in unincorporated Boulder County.

A Boulder County Parks and Open Space employee was on the property conducting work when the fire started. The employee tried to use a shovel to extinguish the fire, but the fire quickly spread and 911 was called. The fire ended up growing to approximately 10 acres before being put out. The fire stayed within the boundaries of the open space property and no structures were threatened.

Three firefighters with North Metro Fire were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries caused by the heat and smoke conditions. In addition, two North Metro Fire and Rescue engines sustained damage from the fire.
