Lawrence currently plans on pulling all traffic signals from Fourmile Canyon Drive this Friday afternoon and has no plans to use them again. Work will continue, but construction zones will be controlled by flaggers during the day and reopened to two lanes after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. Travel delays can still range up-to 15-minutes, so please plan your travels accordingly.

Holiday Schedule:

  • Suspend operations at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23
  • Resume operations at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2

Cycling will be permitted during the holiday break.

This Friday, temporary asphalt will be laid at all locations where asphalt has been removed, including culverts and retaining walls. On Monday, a street sweeper will be brought in to clear the entire roadway of debris.

When work resumes in January, crews will be focused on the retaining wall at Salina Junction, two large culvert sites in the north section, guardrail throughout the corridor, and stone veneer at three wall sites.

We still anticipate suspending all construction activity the week of Jan. 27, and returning in mid-May to resume and complete operations.

I hope you have a nice holiday and enjoy the break from construction.
