Fire Destroys Chicken Coop on North 67th in Boulder County

Boulder County, Colo. - The Boulder County Communications Center received a call at 12:30 p.m. this afternoon about a potential fire in the 7000 block of N. 67th Street in unincorporated Boulder County.

Upon arrival, first responders located a fire on the property which turned out to be a chicken coop, that housed nineteen baby chicks. The chicken coop was a complete loss and all of the "chicks" perished in the fire. It is believed the fire may have been due to a heat lamp in the coop and high winds in the area.

Along with Boulder County Sheriff's Deputies, the responding agencies included the Mountain View Fire Protection District and the Boulder Rural Fire Protection District.

The associated Boulder County Sheriff's Office case number is: 20-1690
