Emergency Crews Extinguish Basement Fire

Boulder County, Colo. - On September 16, 2020 at approximately 5:00 pm, Boulder County Communications received reports of visible smoke and flames coming from the lower level of a home located in the 3800 block of Campo Court.

Deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office and Fire Personnel from Boulder Fire Department and Boulder Rural Fire Department responded and found an active fire in the basement of the home. In speaking with the residents of the home, all occupants were accounted for and no one had been in the home at the on-set of the fire. A pet snake died in the fire.

Members of the MAFIT (Multiple Agency Fire Investigation Team) responded and investigated the origin and cause of the fire. It was believed that the fire had started in a bedroom located in the basement and the cause was deemed to likely be electrical.

There was extensive smoke damage throughout the home and heavy fire damage to the basement bedroom and a bathroom, with an estimated cost of damage at $200,000.
