Elderly, At-risk male walks away from home in Superior, CO.

At-risk 85 year old male later located at an area hospital

Boulder County, Colo. -

On April 15th, 2020, at approximately 7:14 p.m., deputies with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) were dispatched to the fourteen hundred block of Stoneham Street in Superior, Colorado on the report of a missing person.

The missing person was described as an 85 year old male with advanced dementia by his daughter. The elderly male left on foot in an unknown direction. BCSO Deputies and Boulder County Parks and Open Space Rangers responded to the area and began a search of the area.

The Boulder Emergency Squad was dispatched to the scene to assist the search effort using an Unmanned Ariel System (UAS). However, due to the inclement weather, the UAS pilots determined it was unsafe to fly.

Due to the at-risk nature of the elderly male and the bad weather, the ground search continued with personnel and K-9 units.

At approximately 11:45 p.m., the daughter of the missing male was contacted by a local hospital. The elderly male had walked to an area coffee shop where employee's called for an ambulance and he was transported to the hospital due to his confusion. He was uninjured and later released to family members.

The case number for this incident is #20-1790.
