Deputies pursue vehicle stolen during armed carjacking on Flagstaff

Suspects remain at large and last seen in the Greeley area

Boulder County, Colo. - On Saturday, May 2, 2020 at approximately 3:30 a.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an armed robbery and carjacking that had occurred in the area of Panorama Point, a scenic overlook located in the area of 1000 Flagstaff Road, Boulder County, CO. The male and female victim reported that two young white or Hispanic males, possibly 18-20 years old, had approached them while they were near their parked vehicle. One of the males displayed a handgun and demanded the victims’ phones, wallets, and vehicle. The suspects fled the area in the victims’ vehicle, a dark grey 2005 Lexus RX330 sport utility vehicle. As the suspects were fleeing, they fired off several rounds from their handgun in an unknown direction. The victims were not injured in the incident.

Several hours later, an uninvolved witness found the license plates from the stolen Lexus in Lafayette in the area of Centaur Village Drive and South Boulder Road and turned them in to the Lafayette Police Department. At approximately 1:50 p.m., a citizen called Boulder County Communications to report that a suspicious vehicle, described as a dark grey Lexus SUV with no plates and occupied by two males, was circling the area on Centaur Circle in Lafayette. Lafayette PD officers and Boulder County Sheriff’s Office deputies converged on the area and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The suspects swerved around a patrol car and fled to South Boulder Road, then to Highway 287.

Deputies and officers pursued the vehicle as it continued to elude them through Lafayette and Erie then eventually onto southbound I-25. It exited at E-470 and looped back around to I-25 northbound via York and Highway 7. The Colorado State Patrol joined in the pursuit, which was ultimately terminated in the area of the Erie Parkway exit, where the suspects continued northbound on I-25.

A “be on the lookout” request was sent to area law enforcement agencies. It was later learned that the suspect vehicle was observed driving eastbound on Highway 34 into Greeley.

We ask that anyone with information related to the identity of these suspects please contact the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office at 303-441-4444 or Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at https://nococrimestoppers.com/contact-us/.
