Cultural History Volunteers Needed for Walker Ranch Homestead

Application deadline Thursday, March 12.

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County Parks & Open Space is recruiting cultural history volunteers. Volunteers will learn fun and easy living history demonstrations to share at special events and weekday school field trips at the Walker Ranch Homestead, an 1880s-era ranch in foothills west of Boulder.

The application deadline for volunteers is Thursday, March 12. Training dates are Sunday, April 19, and Sunday, July 12.

Volunteers dress in period costume, cook on a wood stove, give tours, chop wood, make shingles, churn butter, and do laundry with a washboard. This is a great opportunity for families to get involved in a volunteer activity together.

For those whose schedules allow, there are also opportunities to help with special presentations for school groups that visit the ranch on field trips.

For more information and to apply, please visit the Walker Ranch Living History Demonstrator webpage or contact Sheryl Kippen at skippen@bouldercounty.org or 303-776-8848.
