Closure Notice: Boulder County Clerk & Recorder’s offices will be closed to the public Thursday, Aug. 8

Offices will reopen the following day at 8 a.m

Boulder County, Colo. - On Thursday, Aug. 8, all Boulder County Clerk & Recorder’s offices will be closed for employee development. This includes the Boulder, Lafayette, and Longmont offices and all three divisions: Elections, Motor Vehicle, and Recording. The office will reopen the following day, Friday, Aug. 9, at 8 a.m. and resume normal hours of operation.

Onsite services will not be available. Staff advises those who desire onsite service to either visit on the days before or after the closure. Additionally, Boulder County clients are encouraged to visit bouldercounty.gov and navigate to the appropriate department to see if the service they need is available online. For instance, almost all residents can renew vehicle registration online (even if past due) or update voter registration. In addition, to avoid a wait for a future visit, residents can book an appointment for almost all motor vehicles services (visit bouldercounty.gov/MV for appointment link). For residents in the Longmont area, vehicle renewal can also be done at the self-service MV Express Kiosk at the King Soopers at 1611 Pace Street.

This specific closure date was chosen from historical data as to minimize the impact on the public. The busiest times of the month are the very first few and last few days of the month and the business days are Mondays and Fridays.

“It is important to get the entire staff together on an annual or biennial basis in order to build staff cohesion and stay up to speed on the other division initiatives and activities,” stated Molly Fitzpatrick, Boulder County Clerk & Recorder. “Providing the best in public service is our goal, and this training is critical in making sure our staff is aligned with our county and department goals. There is no time during our normal business hours to bring our staff all together from all three branches and with four back-to-back elections beginning this fall, this will be our only opportunity to meet until 2021. I thank the public for their understanding and flexibility with this one-day closure.”
