Bridge Replacement on Baseline Road at Dry Creek #3 Requires Road Closures

First Closure for Utility Relocation Starts Wednesday

Boulder County, Colo. - In order to replace an aging structure with a new bridge, Baseline Road will need to be closed between 75th Street and Cherryvale Road at two separate times in 2026.

The first closure will start at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11 in order for Xcel Energy to relocate a gas main and other utility infrastructure in the area. This full road closure is anticipated to take one month, weather permitting.

The second closure will start at a date to be determined later this fall when creek flows have slowed. That closure will be in place for two-months in order to install the new bridge. Both road closures will be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will impact all roadway users.

Detours will be established. Travelers will need to use South Boulder Road or Arapahoe Road in order to move east and west in this area. RTD’s 225 bus route will also be rerouted to South Boulder Road at 76th Street and at Cherryvale Road. The 225 route stops on Baseline between 75th Street and Cherryvale Road will be closed during each of the closure periods. View a map of the project location and detours.

The City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks parking lot at Dry Creek Trailhead will be closed during both phases of construction because the lot will be used for staging materials and equipment and access will be limited.

Residents who live between the road closure locations and the construction site along Baseline Road will be able to access their homes. Those who live west of the Dry Creek Trailhead will need to access properties from the west via Cherryvale Road. Residents who live east of the Dry Creek Trailhead will need to access properties from the east via 75th or 76th street.
