63rd Street CLOSED Between Jay and Twin Lakes Starting November 5 for Culvert Replacement
Closure anticipated to last into January
Boulder County, Colo. - Starting at 7 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5, Boulder County Public Works will begin replacing a deteriorating culvert that funnels Lefthand Ditch under N. 63rd Street. The work requires a full closure of N. 63rd Street between Jay and Twin Lakes roads from November 5 through mid-January, weather permitting. View a map of the closure location and detour route by visiting www.BoCo.org/63rd.
Jay Road will remain open, but there will be no access to 63rd Street in either direction at this intersection due to the county’s culvert replacement to the north and the city’s ongoing waterline installation project to the south. Cyclists and pedestrians will also be detoured around the work zone. RTD’s bus stops will be closed between Gunbarrel and Jay roads. Access RTD’s 205 bus at stops along 63rd Street north of Gunbarrel Avenue.
Boulder County and the City of Boulder tried to coordinate the county’s culvert replacement with the city’s waterline replacement project, but logistical challenges made it impossible to complete both projects in the same area at the same time. We apologize for the inconvenience and will do what we can to reopen this important corridor as quickly as possible.
