16-year-old skier dies after striking tree at Eldora Mountain Resort

Boulder County, Colo. - Shortly after 11:00 a.m. this morning, the Boulder County Communications Center received a call about a skier who had struck a tree while skiing at the Eldora Mountain Resort in unincorporated Boulder County.

A 16-year-old male had been skiing on the Lower Ambush Run when he struck a tree and sustained serious injuries. Life-saving measures were taken, but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead on-scene.

The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Boulder County Coroner’s Office and his name will be released by the Coroner’s Office once his identity is confirmed and next of kin has been notified.

Agencies that responded to this incident included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Eldora Ski Patrol, Nederland Fire Protection District, American Medical Response, Northern Colorado Med Evac, and the Boulder County Coroner’s Office.
