Boulder Community Housing Corporation

Our Purpose

The Boulder Community Housing Corporation (BCHC) was established in 1984 and is a nonprofit organization dedicated to charitable initiatives in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. In partnership with Boulder County Housing Authority (BCHA), BCHC works to develop and maintain safe, quality, and affordable housing for low- and moderate-income households throughout Boulder County. Additionally, the organization fosters stability, empowerment, and community engagement by supporting programs for youth, adults, and seniors through fundraising efforts and grant opportunities.

BCHC works to support households striving to attain self-sufficiency by promoting innovative programming related to youth engagement, economic mobility and aging in place. Examples of our work include the Robotics program and other STEM opportunities through our Casa de la Esperanza youth program, scholarships for households in our Family Self-Sufficiency program, and tenancy supports as well as innovative 3-generation programming to help older adults safely and vibrantly age in place. We also partner with Boulder County’s Family & Children Services to support their Family-to-Family Holiday Gift program.

BCHC also participates as an administrative limited partner in BCHA’s newest project, Willoughby Corner. To this end, we work to promote affordable housing and home ownership opportunities for low- to middle-income households in our community.

By serving on the BCHC Board, you will help shape the future of affordable housing and supportive services, ensuring stability and opportunity for those in need.

Directors must be at least eighteen years of age and knowledgeable in or have the desire to learn about the creation and maintenance of affordable housing in Boulder County and the delivery of supportive services, including housing management, case management, program development, property development, financial analysis, architecture, and legal strategies. Additionally, a resident or residents of Boulder County Housing Authority (“BCHA”) housing units may be appointed as a director. However, no employee of BCHA may serve as a director.

There are five (5) BCHC Directors, three Independent Directors who are appointed at large and two BCHA Directors who are nominated by BCHA’s Executive Director and approved by the Independent Directors. Appointments are for three years and require attendance at four (4) quarterly Corporation meetings per year.
