HazMat March Madness 2025

The 2025 hazardous materials (HazMat) March Madness is now open through March 3. Fill out a bracket today and submit it to cvalenza@bouldercounty.gov before the March 3 deadline to be entered to win a $25 Earth Hero gift card. Here are the official rules:

  • Download the bracket
    • Boulder County aims to ensure all digital content and documents are accessible. While some efforts have been made to maximize accessibility, some types of content have inherent technical limitations. For alternate formats or accommodations, please email cvalenza@bouldercounty.gov.
  • Fill it out completely.
    • For each material faceoff, choose the material you think will show up the most at the HMMF for that week
      • Excample: aerosols versus light bulbs in week 1 – If you think the HMMF will get more light bulbs than aerosols that week, write “light bulbs” in the Week 2 spot
  • Email the completed bracket to cvalenza@bouldercounty.gov by Monday, March 3
  • Each week, HMMF staff will take count of the materials coming in.
  • Every Monday, that advancing materials will be announced on Instagram and Facebook.
  • The Final Week ends Saturday, March 29.
  • Winners will be announced and contacted on Monday, March 31.
  • Winning players are the people with the most points overall.
    • Point System:
      • Correct First Round Selection = 1 point each
      • Correct Second Round Selection = 2 points each
      • Correct 3rd Round Selection = 4 points each
      • Correct winner selection = 8 points
  • The top two point getters will receive a $25 gift card to Earth Hero.

Donations

Voluntary cash donations are accepted from residents to help fund the service. A donations box is located at the facility. Tax-deductible receipts are available on request.
