All Boulder County facilities are closed for business until Monday, April 20.

(Boulder County, Colo.) -- As of Sunday, March 15, three presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Boulder County. With growing concerns around community spread in Colorado, Boulder County is taking additional immediate measures to help reduce the rate of transmission by limiting opportunities for exposure. This will help protect our most vulnerable residents and reduce strain on our healthcare system.

Social distancing is the most effective method to accomplish this. While Boulder County will remain open to provide necessary services to county residents, many buildings and offices will be closed to the public and some services will be accessible by phone or online only.

Below is a list of Boulder County closures and cancellations, and information on how to access services.

This list is subject to change and will be updated as additional decisions are made.

All Buildings Closed to Public Access

All Boulder County facilities are closed for business until Monday, April 20. With the exception of emergency response, only services that can be delivered electronically or by mail or phone will be available for the next 30 days. This includes motor vehicle registration, recording, and taxation services.

Closures & Cancellations

These are in addition to previously announced cancellations:

• Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 18 has been canceled.
• The Parks & Open Space Advisory Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 26, has been canceled.
• Boulder County Head Start: Closed through March 27. Parents will be informed of any additional closures through Head Start's typical notification processes.
• Hazardous Materials Management Facility, 19014 63rd St, Boulder, is closed indefinitely.

Assessor's Office

The remote Assessor offices in Longmont and Lafayette are closed until further notice. The main Assessor offices in the Boulder courthouse, 1325 Pearl St., will remain open with limited staffing during normal business hours, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. If at all possible, please call or email with your questions at 303-441-3530, or Assessor@BoulderCounty.org.

Community Planning & Permitting Department

• New planning applications and standard building permit requests are currently not being accepted; the county is working to establish an online process as quickly as possible.
• EZ BP (Easy Building Permits) are available via email application. EZ BPs are Residential Building Permits that can be applied for that do not require plans for submittal. Download the EZ BP application form, and submit completed application to ezbp@bouldercounty.org.
• Building issues related to health and safety needs will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

  Boulder County Area Agency on Aging will continue to provide services remotely. Community events, trainings, and classes have been canceled. Meal services are changing and will no longer be site-based.

Department of Housing and Human Services Limited Staffing

Housing and Human Services (HHS) will have limited staff available at the North Broadway Campus, 3400 North Broadway, in Boulder and at the St. Vrain Community Hub, 515 Coffman Street, in Longmont.

• Residents who need assistance are encouraged to contact HHS by phone or text (303-441-1069) or email at HHSCallCenter@BoulderCounty.org. Participants can also use the live chat function at www.BoulderCountyConnect.org during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Our child and adult protection services will continue as normal. To report abuse or neglect of a child or adult, residents can call the hotline at 303-441-1309.

Motor Vehicle Division (Clerk & Recorder)

The Boulder County Motor Vehicle office is urging residents to use online services and will be restricting in-person services to only transactions that cannot be done online, over the phone, or by email.

• Most services are available online including: vehicle registration / tag renewals (even when expired or in the grace month), duplicate registration or title requests, address changes, disability parking, and more.
• If you are in doubt or have any issue renewing online, call our office: 303-413-7710. There may be ways staff can help or ways to complete a transaction over email.
• We will remain open to service only the transactions that must be conducted in-person, such as:
  • Private party sales (person to person vehicle sales). Before coming in, please review the required documents list online and call first to verify you have all the necessary paperwork.
  • Vehicle Title name / ownership changes. Please call first to verify all necessary paperwork.
  • Special Mobile Machinery (SMM) registration

Public Works Department

• Roadways and Maintenance Services
  For roadways, road maintenance services including snow and ice control will continue.
  All Utility Construction, Oversize Load and Overweight Load permit applications must be submitted online at https://bouldercounty.gov/transportation/permits/utility-construction/ and may be picked up in person only on Thursdays at the Longmont Public Works office, 5201 St. Vrain Road, Building 5.

Recording Division (Clerk & Recorder)

The Boulder County Recording Division is urging residents to use online services and will be restricting in-person services to only transactions that cannot be done online, over the phone, or by email.

• Additionally, no services in Longmont/Lafayette.
• Boulder office will only issue marriage licenses as our in-person service.
• All other recording services, such as recording a document, searching records, etc. will be handled over the phone and by email. Call our office for assistance: 303-413-7770.

Treasurer's Office

The remote Treasurer offices in Longmont and Lafayette are closed until further notice. The main office in the Boulder courthouse, 1325 Pearl St., is closed to the general public. Services that must be conducted in person will be done by appointment. Please call 303-441-3520.

Online Accessible Services

Boulder County is compiling a list of all services accessible online at Online Services. The page is continuously being updated.

Limited Staffing

County staff who are able to work remotely will be doing so, which may delay responses to general inquiries. However, many county employees will continue to report to their regular work locations to perform duties in response to the COVID-19 emergency or to perform functions that are related to public safety or are required by statute.
