Ward retaining wall and roadway repaving project update

Work on the retaining wall on Utica Street in Ward is going well (photos below). Crews hope to have the wall completed by mid-October. After the wall is built the area behind it will be back-filled. Crews will then prepare the roadway area for paving and return Utica Street to two lanes. We are hopeful this work will be complete before winter arrives. If weather ends up being a factor and paving cannot take place, we have contingency plans in place to ensure the road is in a safe driving condition until we can return to pave when consistently warmer weather returns next Spring.

As you may have seen, asphalt removal on Humboldt Street and portions of Utica Street has taken place. Crews will complete some additional preparatory work at each location before returning to pave, which they anticipate for Friday, Oct. 11.

Please let me know if you have questions, comments, or concerns.

Have a good day.

Sincerely,

Andrew Barth
