Deputies discover a body during a missing person investigation

Boulder County, Colo. - Just before noon on July 30, deputies were called to the area of Camino Bosque in Fourmile Canyon on the report of a missing person. Deputies learned that the missing person, a 57-year-old Boulder man, had plans to visit a friend on July 28, but never arrived.

As of July 30, the missing man’s 28-year-old son had not seen or heard from his father. He became concerned and began efforts to locate him. During these efforts, the man’s son called a female friend of his father who had recently hired him to work as handyman on her vacant home on Camino Bosque. While the man's son called the sheriff's office to file a missing person's report, the friend and her daughter proceeded to the home to see if the missing man was there. Upon arriving at the residence, they observed the garage windows covered in paper along with a man who did not have permission to be there.

Shortly thereafter, deputies arrived and contacted the man in the garage. He was later identified as Stephen Christopher Wolf, 25, of Gold Hill. During a subsequent search of the scene, deputies located a body, believed to be that of the missing man.

Wolf was subsequently arrested and booked into the Boulder County Jail early this morning on the charges of First Degree Murder (a class one felony), Felony Murder (a class one felony), Second Degree Burglary (a class three felony), Tampering with a Deceased Human Body (a class three felony), and Tampering with Physical Evidence (a class six felony). Wolf is being held without bond and will likely make his first appearance in court later this week. Wolf, like all defendants, is presumed innocent until the charges are proven beyond a reasonable doubt in court.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, additional information, including Wolf’s booking photograph, is not available for public release at this time.

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office is responsible for determining and releasing the identity of the body discovered, along with the cause and manner of death.
