Injured Hiker on the Rattlesnake Gulch Trail at Eldorado Canyon State Park

Boulder County, Colo. - On Wednesday, July 24, 2019, about 1:00 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an injured hiker, who suffered a leg injury while hiking in Eldorado Canyon State Park.

A male in his mid-60’s was hiking the Rattlesnake Gulch Trail in Eldorado Canyon State Park. While hiking, he tripped and fell, injuring his leg. Although the injury was non-life threatening, he required assistance getting out of the field due to the remote location and rough terrain.

Rescue personnel were dispatched to the scene to assist the injured hiker. The injured hiker was located and treated for his injuries. Once it was safe to do so, rescue personnel carried the injured person out via a wheeled litter to an awaiting ambulance. He was transported by ambulance to a local area hospital to be further evaluated.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the rescue by the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Rocky Mountain Fire Authority, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
