Injured Mountain Biker on the Benjamin Loop Trail
Boulder County, Colo. - On Sunday, July 14, 2019, about 10:00 a.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an injured mountain biker, who suffered a shoulder injury while riding on the Benjamin Loop Trail at Betasso Preserve.
A male in his mid-30’s was riding the Benjamin Loop Trail on the Betasso Preserve. As he was negotiating a particularly rocky area, he flipped over his handlebars, landing on his shoulder. The injury was non-life threatening, but he required assistance getting out of the field and back to the trailhead.
Rescue personnel were dispatched to the scene to assist the injured mountain biker. The person was quickly located and treated for his injuries. Once it was safe to do so, rescue personnel assisted the injured person as he walked to an awaiting ambulance. The injured person refused further medical treatment on scene and was transported to an area hospital via private vehicle.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the rescue by the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Boulder County Parks and Open Space, Four Mile Fire Protection District and American Medical Response (AMR).
