Fallen climber rescue in Eldorado Canyon State Park
Boulder County, Colo. - On Thursday, May 16, 2019, at approximately 7:46 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of a fallen climber in Eldorado Canyon State Park, on the Red Garden Wall.
Search and rescue personnel met with witnesses, who escorted them to the injured climber. Due to the location and injuries to the climber, rescue personnel conducted a technical rescue to evacuate the injured climber. This was a long and difficult rescue that took teamwork from multiple responding agencies to safely get the injured climber to advanced medical care.
The fallen climber is a male in his mid to late twenties, from the Boulder area. As a result of his fall, the climber suffered numerous injuries, which were determined to be serious, but non-life threatening. He was transported to an area hospital by ambulance.
