Fallen Climber
Rescue on the 1st Flatiron
Boulder County, Colo. - On Friday, April 5, 2019, about 9:25 AM, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, along with personnel from the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks were dispatched to a report of a fallen climber on the first Flatiron.
Search and rescue personnel were able to make contact with a member of the victims climbing group via telephone. The witness was able to guide personnel to the victim so they could begin the technical rescue and evacuation. This process took a group of approximately twenty rescue personnel nearly three hours.
The victim is a female in her early twenties from the Boulder area. As a result of her fall she suffered a non-life threatening lower leg injury. She was transported to a local hospital by a member of her climbing group.
