Lyons, Colo. - At 7:10 p.m, deputies along with Lyons Fire Department and Hygiene Fire Department responded to a grass fire near the 4300 block of Ute Hwy. The fire was growing rapidly due to the high winds.

The fire was extinguished before damaging any structures and was contained to approximately one acre. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but was most likely caused by the high winds breaking a tree branch onto power lines creating an electrical ark. No injuries were reported.

The case number associated with this investigation is 19-865.
