Voter Signature Update

Did you get this mailer?

Screenshot of a mailer sent to voters with one or no signatures on file. The mailer asks voters to provide two signatures and return it to us by mail.Boulder County Elections needs more signatures from you! The best way to update your voter record with more signatures is to return the mailer with your signatures written in black or blue ink.

If you lost the mailer or would just like to add more signatures to your file, use our online form below.

Every ballot that gets returned to our office in a mail ballot envelope goes through a rigorous signature verification process. It’s how we know you voted your ballot and not anyone else. If you’re a brand new voter, it is possible the only signature we have on file for you is from the DMV when you got your driver license or permit. Your signature might change when you’re young and trying to figure out how you want to sign things. Throughout your life, your signature might also change for some reason or another.

Signatures from the DMV can be hard to read. That makes it hard for our election judges to verify the signature on the envelope when you return your mail ballot. Our judges might also have a hard time verifying your signature if it has changed since the last time you voted.

The more signatures we have on file for you, the easier it is for our signature verification judges to do their job and process your ballot. You can use this form to submit an updated signature to our office. We will attached any uploaded signatures to your voting record which will help our judges process your future ballots faster.

How to update your signature

  1. Grab a blank sheet of white paper. We prefer unlined, white printer paper. Lined notebook paper will also work if that’s all you have.
  2. Legibly print your full name and phone number at the top of the paper.
  3. Leave a large space (2 – 3 inches) below your name and number and then sign the paper. Use the sample image as an example of how this should look.
  4. Place the paper on a flat, solid surface and take a photo of it.
  5. Complete the form below and upload the photo of the sheet of paper with your information and signature.

You can also come into our office and complete this process in person. See below for office hours and location.
