Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County is seeking community input on the draft Transit Vision for Linking Boulder County, the county’s first comprehensive Transit Plan. During the project’s second phase of public outreach, taking place in April and May, residents are invited to review findings from the State of Transit Report and share their feedback through an online survey open from April 22 to May 31, 2026.
The State of Transit Report outlines current conditions and transit needs across Boulder County. Findings include:
- An estimated 7.6 million public transit trips are taken in Boulder County each year
- Less than 1% of trips into and out of the county were made using transit in 2024, dropping by half compared to 2019
- Community members participating in pop‑ups, surveys, and focus groups emphasized the need for:
- More frequency on routes such as the Flatiron Flyer and AB
- Better connectivity to daily destinations like grocery stores and schools
- More early‑morning and late‑night service
The draft Linking Boulder County Transit Vision defines transit as part of the fabric of the community and outlines goals to better connect Boulder County communities and the region, improve travel options, increase ridership, and support community health and resilience.
Linking Boulder County aims to create a more useful, accessible public transit system that meets the needs of residents, employees, and visitors today and into the future. Transit services included in the plan range from RTD buses and mountain shuttles to shared‑ride services such as Ride Free Lafayette and paratransit.
